TGC didn't die without a click option.
It’s a console game first. Then ported to PC. Big difference between the two games.

When there are reasons why TGC survived without a 3-click option, there can be reasons why PG2 could without it as well. A few die-hards who refuse to buy a game because their favourite control method is missing is nothing compared to what controller stick play on consoles would bring in.

So is VG2 "out" for all Trackman users?
Or what's the source of the photos so far?
Beta testers?
Some sort of golf trade show stuff or something?

Just selected users. Not released yet.

I was in the closed beta for the PC version of TGC and we were told that there was another team working on the console versions.
TGC was released in August of 2014 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

That is correct. It was for PC first.

Why would golf game/console/controller/3 click be mutually exclusive?

Any future game without click option will die...very quickly. The talk in here is like Mouse swingers are in the majority. Far from it, remove the Mouse option, no avatar is necessary (though some Mousers don't seem to need the avatar either) and less players would be "lost".
Look at the current week of PGLS - 1 Controller player and about 12% are Mouse swingers of some type, which leaves the large majortiy being clickers. Unless it's for console, any future golf game has to have a click option. I realise PGLS doesn't count for all players, but i'll wager that the non Tournie playing community doesn't differ that much.
I don't think you can look at the current composition of PGLS tournament players as an overall barometer of the interface preferences of the JNPG user base at large. I quit playing PGLS tournaments when the moratorium on controller use began, along with others who preferred the controller. I don't think very many of us came back after the moratorium was lifted. I really don't have a good idea of what the breakdown would be between Mouse, 3-click, and controller use would be with JNPG, but I'm sure the PGLS tournament player choice would be far less indicative of it than what a scientific survey of the broader user base would show.
If there is to be a PG2, I'd think it would need to include all three interface types to give it the best shot at covering all the bases for a niche' market game like golf has become. Perfect Parallel has already demonstrated they can do a good job with each of them. Why would anything need to change here, unless Trackman has objections about mouse or controller swings being in their game? The only thing I can think of is that mouse and controller swings would need an animated avatar, although some mouse swingers are saying they don't really have to have one.

I can't think of any reason why they should.

It's hard to believe we're looking at rendered graphics in this shot of Virtual Golf 2 on Trackman's Instagram page!?

Other than the great skybox and lighting engine it doesn't look like a significant graphics update.

It's probably so impressive to me because I've only seen photos of projection screen graphics so far. This one *appears* to be a direct image and is a step above the rest, at least to my untrained eye.
