R2 - 68 (-3)

What a crappy round - too many sand saves and not enough quality "snaps".

Only saving grace was an improbable birdie on 14.  Tee shot was so far right I was almost in the next fairway. After rolling 50yds through the rough the ball decides to stop in a large clump of tall tree - totally blind 2nd shot coming. So pissed - I over clubed the next shot (didn't bother to aim). Had to use reverse replay to see what happened - ball lands on the left edge of the green, hits a large slope an bounces 90 degrees to the middle of the green for a 30 ft uphill birdie ( of courde I had to make the put, and did).

Should have walked off here at -4.

Decided to play rounds 2 ans 3 back-to-back.  Much better "snap" control this time.

R3 - 66 (-5)  What helped the most was no bogies (lots of 7 to 12 ft par putts to save), and a bit more conservative play.

Highlight was again at 14 - 165yd fairway bunker approach to within 7 ft.  Missed the birdie putt this time, but the bunker shot gave me momentum to birdie 15 and 18 coming in.

I think I'll wait until Sunday afternoon to play round 4.

Very tough going at Pro level, but

managed an even par 71 for Rd 1.

Fun round with a dbl bogie on the 2nd ( water ) and an eagle on the 4th.  7 more birds and 1 bogie for the rest of the round.

Rnd 2   -4

Solid short game, but a cpl of missed putts ( under 4 ft ).  5 birds and 1 bogie.

Turns out I did win the lottery last night! £6.58....Boom!

So I thought I'd take another crack this morning. finished with a 74. Might have finished a little better but I had 2 chipons that forgot they were chips and flew 30 yards over the green......with the 64 wedge too..

Never mind

 

Maybe tomorrow eh?

Not a great deal to say about an average round that was hard work from start to finish.

One of the greens resembles putting on a camel's hump. Putt up one side and see it disappear down the other. Putt back and you end up where you started from.

Actually pretty pleased. Couple of bad bounces into the water didn't help  (I'm sure aim and stroke had nothing to do with those bounces)

Well. So far I'm consistent, if not good. Guess I need to work on my 20+ foot putts, landing close to the pin doesn't seem to work

I had no right to shoot under par. That would have to be the most nerve-wracking round ever. Hardly hit a fairway, bunkers, missed greens, side hill lies (no water) but some amazing recovery shots. Swearing, gasping, shrill cries of 'no, no, no - yes'. I'm exhausted.

Hopefully my second round will be better?

But having a lot of fun with this game!
