Round 2 - played Friday night; waited for the rest of the field to catch up.
68 (-4) hit some really good approaches - 33 ft birdie at 1, 10 ft birdie at the par 5 4th, birdie at the short par 4 8th, and a lucky birdie at 9 after two bad shots and one good wedge., for -4 at the turn. Two bogies and two birdies on the back.

Sorry for the dumb question, but I didn't play in this because I wasn't sure what Pro and A grades are. Hopefully, I'll know for the next one. I searched the forums, but couldn't find the specifics.
Thanks for any help.

A little late to the party, but I'm going to try and to get all rounds in (Teddy, please close this event whenever is convenient for you - if I don't make them all, so be it).
I drew an early/late start will leave plenty of time between rounds to attempt fixes of any swing faults noted in the first round. Round 1 began at 7:00 am under mostly clear skies. The par 3 holes were killers on the front nine - a double and a triple bogey. A lot of bogies for the other holes and I turned in 45 (I did manage a birdie on #9). Back nine was a bit more steady, however, I doubled the 13th (a par 3). Thankfully, the back nine had more pars than bogies and a risky shot on 17 from 243 yards landed safely and resulted in a relatively easy birdie. I hit my approach on the final par 3 a bit long and right of the pin - but at least on the green - so was fairly confident I would not make another double (or worse) on the last par 3 of the round.
Round 1 Stats (MS / No Aids)
- Score: 45 - 37 = 82 (+10)
- FWYs: 10/14 = 71.4%
- GIRs: 6/18 = 33.3%
- Putts: 30
Highlights from the round:
Hole 17 Approach Hole 18 Birdie

Wow Armand. A brilliant shot on 17. I would never have the ticker to go for that shot. And a great putt on 18. Nice back nine.

Quality of those videos are terrible ... if I have any more highlights, I'll try to do a better job.
Round 2 started at 2:00 pm in the smoke/dust that the gusty winds had picked up all morning. The par threes were played better this round, only +2 for all of them, but I didn't birdie any of the par 5s. I had a slightly better front none, and the back nine featured two birdies and three bogies.
Round 2 Stats (MS / No Aids):
- Score: 42-37 = 79 (+7)
- FWYs: 5/14 = 35.7%
- GIRs: 8/18 = 44.4%
- Putts: 32
No highlights to show for this round - no one wants to see my ball roll down the hill for 30 seconds on #5 only to end up OB! I suspect most birdied the short holes #12 and #16. Hole 16 ranks as my third 'easiest' hole with a scoring average of 3.88 (or 0.12 under par after 9 times playing the hole). Hole 17 ranks as my tenth most difficult with a scoring average of 6.63 (or 1.63 over par).

Round 3 began at 10:00am and as one of the first players out for the day, the greens were smooth with no spike marks. Three bogeys through Hole 7 was a good start, but I made a good chip over a bunker on #8 and a long sand shot on #9 to set up birdies. I made the turn in 37 and erased a birdie on #12 with a 3-putt double on #13. (Hole 12 saw me within one or two club lengths of the exact place as the first two rounds and made two birdies from that spot!) After a bit of an adventure, I managed a birdie on #14. I cruised with par through the next few holes but made a swing error for my 3rd on #17. The shot was supposed to be a normal one, but I forgot I had made it a flop/high shot with the PW and it dunked into the water, well short of the green. I followed that with a 3-putt on the last, citing an especially dismal effort on the 2nd putt.
Round 3 Stats (MS / No Aids):
- Score: 37-40 = 77 (+5)
- FWYs: 8/14 = 57.1%
- GIRs: 5/18 = 27.8%
- Putts: 27
Round highlights are below (sorry, these are of the same or perhaps only marginally better quality):

Round 3 - 68 (-4). I played this Sunday morning. Difficult pins weren't that bad this round (luck of the draw).
Chip-in on #3 for first birdie, and a 20ft birdie putt on #5. Wedge to 8ft on the short par4 8th for birdie, and a layup wedge to 7ft for birdie on #9. Three straight rounds at -4 and no bogies, at the turn.
Lagged a 32yd 30" uphill putt at 11 to within 4 " for a par save. Bogies at 12 and 18, and birdies at 11 and 16. Back 9 seems harder.

A struggle from start to finish. Surprising to me was that the most difficult part was the amazing ball bounce in round 4.

Clubcaptain,
The 8 firmness will bounce high and far on the fairwy and green, but stick like glue in the rough.
Secondly, the difficult pins I played (R4) were mostly tucked behind bunkers or were in hard to reach places. Bouncing the ball short of the green and using the extra bounce and roll can sometimes be the best play (get creative).
72 is not a bad score. Did you have the front left pin on 18? How did you play it?
