Round 2

67

A Grade

MS

A couple of big shots helped. From 215 yards out on 11 hit it to four inches. Got down the hill with my drive on 17 but chickened out. Birds on 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 14. Bogey on 12.

Armand.....Your game is coming along nicely at Pro. Could you give me a quick heads up on the method you use to capture those vids?

It's interesting and encouraging to see so many Pros out there. I'll have to apply for my tour card again.

Sorry about the bounce clubcaptain. I wanted to test those conditions again.

I blew it. I'm becoming one of those 'Two Round Wonders'. When the pressures on and the expectations are high I collapse like a hot air balloon in high tension wires. I could feel my championship slipping away. The commentators were embarrassed for me and I didn't feature on the TV coverage after the third hole.

Teddy, I used OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) for the FLV files.  This is the software suggested by JTee1 and Zmax over at OGT and you can set it up to record to your hard drive or it can stream directly to Twitch.tv.  The setup is a descrivbed in a long post, but in the end, it's essentially sign up for free twitch account, install OBS and create a profile that will stream or record your Perfect Golf round.  The post is here:  http://www.onlinegol...pic.php?f=5&t=7

My latest round (Round 4) was recorded with EZVid (ezvid.com), it's WMV and the 30 minute round is about 2 GB.  Even after cropping out a highlight, it's a bit large (133 MB) for a 90 second clip.  I converted the highlight to MKV and FLV using Freemake Video Converter.  Both MKV and FLV are about 33 MB, still a bit big.  The FLV plays a bit smoother, but the quality isn't there.  The MKV is a bit jumpy at times, but the quality is better.  This is all free software at the moment.  I've also downloaded Bandicam (and have used it before to make AVI files; the next trial with it will make an MP4) as well as AMD Gaming Evolved.  I have a couple of other screen recording softwares I will probably try in the next few weeks before I make a decision about which to use and/or possibly purchase.

Round 4 started at 11:00 am under clear skies and calm winds.  The gusty/breezy days firmed up the course and I struggled keeping the ball on the greens.  Many pins were tucked immediately behind bunkers, making it difficult to run the ball up unless 30 feet left or right.  The Willow Heath par threes eat me alive.  They are very demanding and I've yet to figure out the best way to play them.  A double on #2 followed by bogeys on #3 and #6 had me hanging on for dear life as I neared the turn.  The 8th and 9th holes continued to be nice to me and I birdied both of them again (same as Round 3) to go out in 38.  I'm not sure if the conditions or my old habits came back at me on the back nine, but I bogeyed holes 10-12.  I showed the meager crowd how not to play the 13th with a 4-putt triple, before another bogey on #14.  Trying to scrape out a decent score, I hit a 4-iron to just short of the right bunker at the 17th green and got up-and-down for birdie.  A good two-putt on #18 gave me par and an inward 42.

Round 4 Stats (MS / No Aids):

Score:  38-42 = 80 (+8)

FWYs:  9/14 = 64.3%

GIRs:  8/18 = 44.4%

Putts:  33

I've uploaded the highlights to TinyPic and Vimeo:

Ok thanks Armand. I'll start getting some software and follow your experimentation if that's ok.

Not a problem Teddy.  I recall a thread a few months back about recording software with nVidia graphics cards:

http://www.perfectpa...ording/?p=37613

I've added a post about ATI/AMD cards and will test out Raptr/AMD Gaming Evolved, which is analogous to nVidia's Shadowplay.

Edit:  And thanks for the comments on my game - it was improving until Round 4!  Actually, Willow Heath plays a bit easier than the other tracks for me - 0.4 strokes easier than Florida Glades and 1.0 strokes easier than Southampton.  The rest are mostly 4 to 9 strokes harder for me!

I thought I had The Heath worked out Armand but the Kablammo design beat me in the end. Thanks for the info re recording. I'll get on to it myself. Though all footage of my last two rounds has been destroyed.

Round 4 - played Sunday evening.

So...another 68 (-4), although much more scrambling and long par saves. At #1, hit a 56wedge from 99yds that landed on the green short of the hole, bounced 30ft uphill past the hole, and made the 14ft comeback for birdie. Took advantage of #4 and #8 again for birdies, and played safe at #9 (pin at the back edge near the water). In at -3, no bogies.

The wheels started to come off with #10 thru #13. First had to drain a 30ft par saver at #10, then consecutive bogies at #11 and #12, and another long (15ft) par save at #13. Down to -1 and limping in. Hit a great 285yd t-shot at the par5 14th (fairway), leaving 280yds (big downhill) to the back pin. Decided to layup with a 3wood and play for a birdie. Hit a perfect snap and watched the ball land just short of the green, bounce and roll back to within 6ft for an eagle. Wedged in to 15ft on #17 for a birdie.
Now for the difficult front left pin at #18. T-shot to the back middle of the green left 28ft uphill putt, with a huge dropoff to the left. Tried to leave it well right; so close. Ball stopped right were I wanted, for about 2 seconds, then started that slow roll left across the green. 30ft later, and two more putts to finish with bogie (onlY!). Very challanging 4th round closing pin.

Rounds 2-4: -4 Shot the same score for the next 3 rounds but I have to say the 4th round was very tough....had to do a lot of scrambling. I personally think the firmness setting of 8 is ridiculous on this course. If you land the ball just short of the green, even with a mid iron, it bounces like crazy, as if on concrete. Good luck guys.

Round 2 68 (-4) Pro MS

This was a really enjoyable round of golf. Teed off late afternoon and in the sunshine and the course was looking gorgeous. Hit some memorable shots too including a delicate chip from the green side rough that I hit perfectly and it followed the twisting contours of the green and dropped for a birdie. Happy with that.

Round 3 71 (-1) MS pro

Definitely a round of two halves. Continued my great form and was out in 31 which included eagles at the two par 5s.

Then I triple bogied the 10th after twice hitting the hazards. Also an annoying bogie on the 17th...though I was lucky because my ball ended up right in one of the angles of the wall by the water. Would have been an impossible lie in real life. Mind you, I can't even hit the ball 200yds in real life lol. So I was back in 40.

First two rounds in and you can tell I have not played in over a week.

Round 1    35-37=72  Min aids MS BLI Grade A

Round 2    32-39=71  Min aids MS BLI Grade A

Round 2 was looking good till I got to the back side and just struggled the whole side to stay afloat as wind wore me down.   At this point I am good enough to make the cut but not to contend so I am thinking of hiring a new swing coach to guide me thru this journey and if the new update is more difficult I might need one for putting also.  Again love this game.

Round 3 and what a round for me.  This is by far my lowest and best round ever at Grade A.  31-31=62  Grade A Min Aids MS BLI.  I was so stoked I posted the scorecard to the steam page and wow it was like everything was clicking and probably will shoot 80 next round.  lol.  No Boggies and Birdies at 4,5,7,8,9,10,14,15,16,18 and missed a 4 ft birdie attempt at 17 where I was a coward and in middle of fairway with 227 le and laid up instead of going for green as I didn't want to make mistake and screw up round.  The pins were tight in corners mostly and just hit great shots but as some have stated there were a lot of straight putts out there that made the putting a lot easier.  Round 4 this evening but it will be tough to match this one.

Thanks JMK it was a lot of easy flat putts that I had. Just one of those rounds where it all works but I tried to not over swing at all this time and really played conservative vs the gambling I usually try. On #10 I was just off the fairway and way back and on a right to left slope so I knew my ball had to go left and the wind was blowing that way also and if you go left of that green you roll down the hill into the water as I found out in rd 2. I played for the slope and the ball nestled to about 5 ft for an easy birdie so even in one of my few times off the short stuff it worked out. I have a feeling this new update that will soon be here will make putting real tough so we have to take advantage now.

Round 4 63 (-9) MS PRO

Well that was an incredible round of golf. I must have hit every fairway and nailed most of my approaches. Timing was spot on and with no wind I was able to land most approaches within 15ft. The flat pin positions really help on this course. I actually like the pronounced banks and flat pins because if you plan your approaches you can use the banks to your advantage. Or I got lucky lol.

I will miss this course when they update us to U5 as it offers a very different flavour from the others. It feels like going from the manicured USPGA courses to playing wild links courses in the UK.

My card reads...4,2,4  4,3,3  4,3,4  4,3,4  3,4,4  3,4,3  for a 63.

Thanks guys :)

Well just finished round 4 and back to reality and shot 36-36=72 Grade A MS BLI Min aids. Had birdies at 4,14 and 17 which was chip in and bogies at 9,11 and 13. Almost impossible to get ball close with the firmness of 8 as the bounce was just way overdone but I knew that going in. This will be fixed when they go to the three firmness settings as we all know firmness is broke on 8 thru 10. Actually thought I hit it pretty good and on birds I had I played it short and for the bounce. Also noticed no spin at all at that level. In the end it was a good test for all and if it were not for the many flat putts again this could have been higher.

Good shootin there, robbiet71.

How were the "superball" bounces on fairway and greens (beanbag ball in the rough)? I think I played maybe 5/18 fairways.

Greensboro,

I thought you had made after the -10.  Good score for four time-compressed rounds.

JMK you can just use G. It's like my real game when I take some time off I usually play better when I return so maybe I need to practice less. Lol. That ball was bouncing like a superball for sure out there and I might of hit half the fairways but again was real conservative. If you want a real trip go over to Shadowlands and use the same settings as Rd 4 here and you won't believe the bounce you get.
