No worries Axe, You all are the true testers, as I have fewer

than 60 hours in the game, but hundreds so far in CF and Unity.

I trust testers such as yourself to see that the game goes in

the most favorable direction, and I'm sure I and thousands of

others appreciate the attention to detail you guys have. It takes

a lot of gumption to speak your mind and push for what all see

but never speak of, and I commend you and the true testers

for the grit and fortitude that I lack when it comes to critiquing others

work.

Looking for satirical comments first.. LMAO Just kidding.. Thanks NoPutt, glad you understand and I appreciate the kind words.

I would be remiss if I didn't give you your credit due, for your work with CF/Unity.   You guy's are the trailblazers when it comes to that..

Take care..

The real golf swing doesn't have 3 clicks either. Why just pick faults with the putting?

I wasn't picking fault with anything. It was my opinion. That's ok isn't it?

Shouldn't the swing meter speed be the same as a putt in real life? This shouldn't require three very clicks in rapid succession.

So by you saying that 3 rapid clicks shouldn't happen, you are not saying that the functionality is at fault?

;)

I was saying that the clicks should represent the: start of the swing, finish of the backswing, hitting the ball, with the timing being as it would happen in real life.

I see what you mean. Just like if the meter was tied to the ani.. Your first click would make the club go backwards, 2nd click would go forward, 3rd click to hit the ball...

I wonder if that can be done with the meter, instead of starting off from the bottom, you would start from the top of the meter, .. therefore the point of the snap would be back   at 12:00.. Interesting..

Actually I'm surprised that 3 click meters don't work that way but since I'm new to 3 click, I never realized that.

I did however see the new one for that very bad company EA Sports new golf game and the meter is tied to the ani and honestly it looks terrific and I know Mike had said, he would love that too.. So..

OK Gimcrack, see where you're coming from now. I wasn't replying as I did to start any thread wars.

IMO, even with your explanation of having 3 clicks to the rhythm of the putting stroke (as I think is something be to investigating when more work commences on the animation and syncing it with the swing), if we were playing using your swing type, how quick do you think you would have to click to knock in a putt from 12 inches?

From my experiences playing golf for over 30 years, I don't take a long back-swing to knock in a foot putt, so to keep the back-swing short so as not to over power the stroke, the clicks would still have to be made reasonably quickly in succession to keep with the rhythm of the putting stroke in this instance.

Unlike a real time swing or a controller swing, when using a click swing you don't have any control over the pace of the swing, you have to click along with the pace of the meter.

* this type of swing is already available in Everybody's Golf: World Tour on the PS3

* so this would be turning the current meter upside down, lol. I personally think swing meters start at 6 o'clock, go to 12 o'clock and then back to 6 o'clock for he snap/hit, to replicate what you see if you stand face on and watch someone swing a club.

Take this clip of Adam Scott. Clubhead starts at 6 o'clock, swings his hands back to 11 o'clock and then the club-head back down to 6 o'clock to hit the ball. This is why I think click swingmeters work like they do. If it was a left hander the meter should work in reverse, going back anti-clockwise from the takeaway.

I feel like in this wind scenario the water should look more like this:    (this is Sawgrass - not sure what real course Shadowlands is)

It isn't. It is a fictional course MJ made for Links, just like Crystal Pines.

@Daz:  You sure about Shadowlands?

I feel like a couple months back somebody found out the course it was based upon with some sat imagery to prove it.

Thank for the work guys, testers ect. Appreciate the photos Axe, I luv that you can see the sloping really good on grass, Is unity 5 making the greens look like that 2, more readable without grid? Not bashing, just asking, I'd like to be able to play without grid is what I'm looking for. The game itself looks fine, just certain things I'm looking at, it kinda goes with playability right? But Thanks again the work is appreciated very much.

If that is so, MJ broke the Links EULA, as he made Shadowlands and sold it as a Purchase-to-Play course for a small fee (as he did with several of his courses), and as did other designers, but the EULA stated real course recreations could not be sold for money.

MJ always said he took inspiration for his designs from his years playing as a tour pro. The only 2 real courses I know he was involved with were Augusta National for Links and his release of Royal Kenya (which is a fictional name of a real world course in Africa). Both of these courses were made available to the Links community for free.

;)

Looks lovely but the reflections in the water don't really match what they are supposed to be reflecting, as Buck says.
There would be more sky reflected and less of whatever we can see in this picture, which should only be as deep as what it's reflecting.

I think you might be thinking of Southampton.  Deena had posted a pic of the real course from satellite imagery.
