Buck I got to say you are the fastest reply to a post I have ever seen
Just happen to be on right now...catching up on stuff as I've been gone.

After trying out the new course, and the new swing adjustments, I'd have to say, "Keep trying". We're only going into year 3 of the early release. We have to be generous.
But when are we going to get some ai oppenents, some crowds, some excitement? That and a lot more game physics that work for the player. Or at least make the player feel like they are in control.
I have been following this game for a long time, so I don't need any comments in that direction. I just don't understand why, after all of this time, this is as far as we've come
A lot of people are going to hate this post, and I'm sorry.
PS: I'm felling very emotional tonight...it might be a reaction to my last round.
Keep trying guys
How do you figure were going into "year 3 of EA"? Please explain. IMO it's more like Month 3, don't you think?

Didn't EA start in January?

Not sure Buck, you may be right, so that puts us around 7mo. into EA... I have been here since Nov. 2012, so I'm approaching 3 yrs and only been testing for what a year or so.. Anyway, he probably misspoke as we haven't been in EA for 3 yrs.. If we had, he may have a valid point..
BTW, I don't hate worrybirdie's post, it's just not quite accurate as far as time and I think PG is doing a gr8 job. It's a major undertaking here and I sure wouldn't know how long it takes to churn out a gr8 game..

These screenshots may not be perfect, but they're generally representative of the differences I see between PG and its primary competitors.

The screenshot is from the U4 version of PerfectGolf ie before the graphics update... Always hate screenshot or video comparisons as they generally push an agenda by the poster. Buck posted a like for like screenshot a while back of one of the courses which was much more of a direct comparison and therefore much more valid IMO.

My question to yo is what do you see as a difference? To me any of those three pictures is a more and I say more again than exceptible water feature. One again to me this is just nitpicking. I have played all types of video games thru the years and the one thing that for me is constant is gameplay as without it you have nothing and in the end the true gamer will play the game that has the gameplay figured out.

I dunno.. they all look pretty good in their own way and U5 has greatly improved PG's graphics, especially for those that have the PCs specs which can max out the settings. Maybe I just dont have that keen eye for graphics, but overall, it is the solid gameplay that I am after in a golf game and at least I know one of those games isn't for me. Never played the other.... so, here I am!

Care to actually tell us with the written word?
I could guess from the pics you have used but better to understand fully.
Obviously nothing to do with the easy putt option RMPGA appears to have, lol.

I don't have an issue with any of the current golf games visually. As an ex-artist I appreciate, and have dabbled in, many different styles of representation of the real world in my time. I can enjoy the fluidity, and simplicity of a watercolour sketch as much as the most detailed, and precise photo-realistic image that could be produced. For most people it just comes down to personal taste.
There can be individual instances of things that I think could be done better, but overall, all three games look pretty nice to me. ![]()

Well! I finally managed to find the time to reflect on this newest update. Lot's of good stuff in there! I first switched my skills to professional and took it from there. I really like this pause option in the swing mode. Very good. Also, not being able to stop a swing when started is excellent. Good realism. Love the chipping mode (again) now that I can use my 9-7 irons again. The snap-cam built in the player cam is also a nice new feature. I've switched from the follow cam to this now. Very beautifull new course too! Thanks fot that.
The game is slowly but surely getting better and better, no doubt about it. Ball physics is right up there! Also ballroll on the green and cup physics are also better. I now switched from full screen to windowed mode and that really helped getting the game smoother for me. Although my computer is about a year old, it's not a high class gaming computer. When I bought it, it was foremost for my work (although Links works great ofcourse
) and so I didn't pay attention to the built-in graphic card, not having PG yet then. That's what it is for now. The next rig will certainly be a top class model, I'm shure of that.
Anyway, the game plays fine, it runs smooth, the visuals are pretty good/good enough, and the gameplay is allready excellent. Now that the foundations have been laid down, my neck is getting longer and longer looking for the long awaited new Ani's etc!... ![]()
But I'll be patient, as I know all the staff and testing people are working diligently and relentlessly to make PG exactly that: PERFECT! Therefore, a big thanks to all!

Will the old courses get some improved textures for the greens? Very noticeable going from Chicago to the rest now!

Yep, I'm sure the original courses will take advantage of newer methods.

How is not being able to stop swing more realistic? I see golfers stopping in mid' swing on TV, grant it not all the time, but I've seen it happen.

As some one mentioned previously it's a hell of a lot easier to stop your swing in a computer golf game and also the rewards for doing so are vast compared to real golf.

While yes it's possible to stop you're swing in real golf for most of us it's almost impossible, while in PC golf and I'll use 3 click as my example because that what I play, it's simple and used more as a cheat than anything else. There are clickers that when not clicking exactly where they want on their second click simply abort the swing and start over. Not only is doing that a way of cheating, it slows down online play considerably as well. All that said, it appears it will be allowed in both amateur, beginner, and custom games. Just not in professional and tour professional. ![]()
The only time you see it in real life is if someones foot slips or someone screams in their back swing. Hopefully we never get that realistic.

I'm sure this is a shot we've all encountered in real life rounds - the sculled bunker shot. Nice one PP
If only we could then recover the situation so easily
Daren't say how mulligans it took to get this one nailed, lol.

Kudos PP. Game coming along just fine.
Yeah, I forgot about that one. That is a GREAT new feature!!! Absolutely fabulous. Talking about real time swing, this is a benchmark point in my book. Goodness me, what a neat find this. Compliments to the dev's. Another touch of PG-magic! ![]()

Thanks for answering that one Mike. That's my thought exactly.
