As some one mentioned previously it's a hell of a lot easier to stop your swing in a computer golf game and also the rewards for doing so are vast compared to real golf.

I'd like to see an allowance for the number of times you are allowed to stop your swing per round or something like that.  It's not a deal break for me, as I'll get used to it but I think I probably start and restart about 3-4 per round due to one issue or another.  I completely agree that it's an assist for those people that do this multiple times on EVERY swing but I still think we should be allowed to stop a swing here or there when something goes drastically wrong.

Face it Mebby, no one needs to use it all the time. 3 or 4 times a round could pretty much guarantee a player avoiding disaster. You know, when that second click is early and you know its leaving you short and in the drink on that par 3 over water? :D I think the anxiety of a bad shot is heightened when you know you don't have that ability in you're back pocket. ;)

I've actually had a couple of brain farts or finger twitches where I was so far off it was frightening and tried to abort the swing only to see a 50 yard hack. It was actually pretty cool that it was possible for a clicker to have that rare horrible result that happens in real life occasionally. I've heard motion swingers make comments that they have those type of total mishits from time to time and 3 clickers have the advantage of it never happening. Well, now we do as well. ;)

I only abort my 3-C swing when I realize I'm in "pitch" mode instead of "chip" or "full" instead of "splash" or something like that.  Also the tiniest loss of my wireless connection creates a pause which sometimes screws up my swing. The abort thing only happens once or twice every 3 or 4  rounds so not really an issue.

I'm only talking about motion swing.  I didn't even know it was possible to abort a 3C swing.  If that's true then it's kinda ridiculous.  But on MS lots of things can go wrong - especially if you take a practice swing and then transition to a real swing... the meter almost always starts when I didn't think it was active.

Again - not a HUGE deal but I just feel like we should have the ability to reset every once in a while.  What Mike was addressing relates to the players that start and stop their MS 3-4 times PER STROKE so that they get the backswing timing JUST right before moving forward.  That's definitely an assist.

I can live with absolutely zero resets on Tour Pro but I think SOME small/nominal allowance probably makes sense.  Just my $0.02.

@Daz:   First and foremost, look at how the surrounding trees, buildings, and terrain are reflected in the water.

Simply speaking on the water/reflections issue in those photos.....

Rory wins to me.

The variation in the wind ripples, realistic accuracy of reflections and overall "feel" is the best.

TGC's are my least favorite.  Incredibly distracting...always have been.  It's sort of like they always have "perfect glass reflections" of the scenery that just gets a little "overlay" of waves or something.

For the record, I think PG is the best golf game available at the moment.  How's that for praising the developers?  I even uninstalled TGC.  I think the graphics took a great leap forward with the U5 upgrade.  I have no problems, really, with the graphics except for the water.  It's the one area that still seems inferior (graphically) to TGC and RM.  I also agree that gameplay is more important.  I'm simply pointing out what I think is one area that could be improved.  No need for anyone to get defensive.  ;)

Same here - Haven't touched TGC in months and months (I also uninstalled it long ago)

I like PG as much as the next guy, but if you look at some of them Rory videos you'll see they have some awesome stuff. 3D grass, detailed bunkers, nice water reflections, etc. Looks super nice :) That's what a team of a bazillion developers can get you. What I hate about every Rory video I see is how there's digital overlays explaining exactly where the ball will go, followed by a perfectly straight shot that lands right next to the hole. It just looks too easy. I'd still like to try it some day, with all the assists turned off.

I agree.  In a perfect world we could blend PG's gameplay with EA's graphics and we'd probably all be in heaven.  However, I'll take gameplay over graphics (to a certain degree) any day.  PG's graphics are great.  EA's are excellent.  But I still think we'll see PG evolve in this area as well.  They've already hinted towards 3D grass and we're continuing to see steady improvements in the graphics with each release.

Is there a setting to have the old style %'s back?

Not sure why, but my brain was more wrapped around "87% power" on a given shot instead of "13% power loss"

IIRC, PG can apply high quality water reflections, but it lowers the FPS count and can cause problems for lower spec machines. I think the reflection level we see in PG is solely to keep FPS stresses down. MJ may be able to expand on this.

If you check K11's Pommeroy thread you will see some of his screenshot's have fully reflective water.

Even older screenies from PG for their TV broadcasts show better reflections than we see currently in game. Here's an old pic from PP's virtual version of Augusta.

So I think it is more the setting chosen in Unity when publishing the courses, than the fact PG cannot do it.

;)

These screenshots may not be perfect, but they're generally representative of the differences I see between PG and its primary competitors.

I guess what I was saying in my "its been 3 years" post previously was that I have been waiting since they had this UTube post on June 15, 2012 announcing the "coming soon" software. (I shouldn't have said that it was the beginning of early release) Got me all excited. Look at the graphics! I suspect they regret getting expectations up so high when they evidently were so far from a finished project. Still think this is the best hope for a great golf game out there. That being said, its been 3 years since they announced. Time to recognize this, and the frustration of those of us who have been patiently waiting for the finished product, which I assume is still a ways off.

BTW: I appreciate the civility of most of the responses to my post. I woke up the next morning and thought "Oh my God...what have I done!"  I mean being so honest on a forum . Kudos to the bulk of the community. I don't post things unless I mean them, but usually I try to be a bit more politic about it. That night I was a little "bourbon inspired". I appreciate the community's tolerance of passionate statements about a game I care very much about.
