Ted Ball's Circuit 7

Ted,

To get the above you would type the following

Had to add an image, as if you try to type it in the post, it converts it to the active link, lol.

One suggestion for the tour Ted.

As it is 7 rounds a week and players can choose their wind setting, why not make it all 4 that are available in the game have to be used in that week. Players can choose at which course they use them, but out of the 7 seven rounds, there must be at least 1 Calm, 1 Breezy, 1 Gusty and 1 Windy from the 7 rounds they play. At least this way it stops folks taking easy option and playing 7 rounds in calm conditions.

Again, as you're not using an API, there is every chance some will play the round at a lesser wind setting than what they declare due to their personal obsession with having to win at all costs, but that is the nature of the beast with some folks. when an honesty system is in play.

Thanks for the tech advice Daz. It's all coming back.

Yes, that is a good suggestion re wind. It could also be appled to Stimp and Firmness I suppose. I'll add the wind stipulation for this week.

I thought I would get the first week up and running before turning my brain to tweaking the rules. These new instant web design templates have had me rattled all day. Give me good old children's HTML any day.

Lordy that Buzzard Coast is a wild course. The greens look superb and it was a great experience all round. Great work Dogz.

Ted I am on vacation for the next week but will play when I return. One question can you play with different swings and levels. I was thinking one Rd at controller Am level then try a round at RTSM at Am and then maybe a Pro round at 3C. I love to experiment as you know and Breezy all the time.

Daz,

I'm surprised you're not aware (or maybe you just forgot?) that you can include the code in the Code tag ( blue <> icon) to prevent it from actually formatting:

Ted Ball's Circuit7

and it's simpler/easier than an image (in my opinion).

OK, I've posted my first score, relatively pathetic as it may be.  I dropped from my usual Tour Pro+ to Pro in efforts not to have twice the strokes as the person above me on the leaderboard.  ;)

Chop Hills
Pro (No grid/no BLI)
Champ Tee / Medium Pins / Hard Conditions / Stimp 13
Breezy / Chance of Rain (Rained for holes 3 through 7) / Overcast
Score:  87
FIR:  13/14 = 93% (Seemed quite easy to hit a straight drive relative to Tour Pro+)
GIR:  6/18 = 33% (My irons seems to travel at least 10-15 yards further than usual, probably due to less loss for poor tempo)
Putts:  39  (yikes!  I struggled with the slopes/elevation and quick greens on this course)

It's not going to challenge the top of the leaderboad, but at least Ted won't be alone on it.

I forgot to indicate on my submission that I will be playing RTSH.

I fell into my own trap. I started out playing Amateur and then realised with the Circuit7 format that there is never a round that you can't discard. It doesn't matter if you spray a few shots because you always have the opportunity to play it again. So it's back to Pro level and I replayed my Buzzard Coast round (in the gusty wind). What a course that is.

My 2nd round done; I played under calm conditions at Royal Juxford.  I have pre-selected the course conditions for the first week of Circuit7, and this one was easy pins with normal firmness and a stimp of 11.   I didn't realize it (nor did I remember the course), but I had played this course once before at the beginning of May (at Tour Pro+).  The first round was 102, so I was pleased with the score the second time around the course, despite my finish:

Armand (Pro) @ Royal Juxford
Score:  74
50% FIR
83% GIR
34 putts

I had it to -3 at the turn, but started poorly on the back and despite adding one birdie, finished with 3 consecutive bogeys and a +2 total of 74.

Nice round at Pro Armand. I'll enter your score when I get home. I like to see you playing at Pro level. There's nothing easy about it and in my opinion it is a fair representation of the difficulty of real life. People who can break par at TourPro really are the geniuses of this game.

I hate to admit this but I have gone back to Amateur for Circuit7. I want to look forward to playing like a good player and not looking forward to putting the ball into the drink or the badlands.

I've now put all the courses available (49) on the one page and I'm treating it as a way to record my scores at all the tracks. It means I can choose any course that takes my fancy at any time. Anyone use it as a personal database in the same way. I'm not really worried about using it as a competition.

I've also added a page of information on Ted Ball's Golf Clinic. It's available for Amateur, Hacker and Beginner golfers and mainly for RTS-M and MS guys although there are some general tips.

Ted,

I keep my scores on my spreadsheet as you may recall (this is where the screen shots come from, although I do have in-game screen shots as well).  I add the courses as they are released and I've "automated it" with macros, so it is generally pretty useful for me.  I'll still post scores for you to add to the "leader board" (trailer board, in my case?) for Circuit7.

I played the third round tonight shortly after posting Round 2.  Again, I had pre-selected the conditions to be played at Crystal Pines.  Although I had easy pins selected, the wind was howling (40-47 mph) and the ground and greens were hard and fast (stimp 14).

Armand (RTSH Pro) @ Crystal Pines

Score:  80
29% FIR (wind played havoc with the ball, but truly enjoyable for me!)
22% GIR (wind showing it's teeth on approach shots too)
25 putts (quite low considering the fast greens; short game generally helped me out)

PS - Ted, you have two week "3" listed on the Circuit7 page; a minor typo - not necessary to fix any time soon!

Wooaah !!  47 mph ! at Crystal Pines !!  Cool !!! Another good score there.

Possibly my favourite course. Never tire of going there.

Thanks Armand. Will fix typo.

North Lakes Resort, Round 4 for me.  Gusty winds with soft greens and difficult pins.  I don't very often play stimp less than 11 or 12, so this proved to be a putting challenge the first few holes.  Unfortunately, I didn't bring my A-game (I guess that's what happens when you take Wednesday - Friday off!).

Armand (RTSH, Pro)

North Lakes Resort, Score:  81

EDIT:

Fifth round in this series was my very first visit to Wells' Hollows.  The skies were darkened with cloud and rain, while the storm thundered for holes 1-6 and 12- 18.  (I didn't realize how dark the game was when in thunderstorms!).  The wind whipped around, although not as intense as my previous windy round; this time, only 22-29 mph.  It was very difficult to see any break on the greens, except during the occasional flash of lightning.  It made putting difficult for this round but I ended with an 83.  I was hoping for a bit better, but I'm sure we all do for every round!

Ah! You play without putting aids don't you Armand. My admiration increases along with my shame for not playing that way.
