71  Even. min/min. no grid. bli.

Sanity preserved.

I can't agree with people who say putting is a weak point of this game. Every putt was excitement plus. And I reckon it's all because of the distance indicator. It might make it easy to two putt (not necessarily) but trying to make those 30 or 40 footers with wide-eyed anticipation as the ball rolls is a hoot.

Geez, I don't know how many times I mistake ft. for yds. lol. Best I can do so far is +7 with no aids, no gimmies, grids, 7 fairway, 10 stimp. I'm still undecided on the putting but it's definitely been better since the last update. It would be nice to have some flatter greens and more slow gentle slopes just to see how the different stimp settings actually  let the ball roll out.

3Clicker.  Round of 75 (+4) using default stimp/hardness.  Found water and sand on hole 18 resulting in double bogey.  My approach on 18 felt and looked good in the air only to take a somewhat crazy hop on the green and dribble into the water.  Overcompensated on rehit and then landed in the bunker.  With gusty winds, you can't afford to miss the fairways.  Was satisfied with my drives, but the touch for chipping and putting (especially +5 or more elevation) continues to elude me.

35-37 - 72 +1 min-grid. Didnt hit a lot of greens but got up and down around the green with my chipping 7 times. Chipping is a work in progress but it's getting better. One advantage of playing on more difficult settings is that it will force you to learn how.  Thought I was going to break par but got a little jumpy coming in and bogied 16 and 17 and made a 16 footer on 18 to salvage par. All  in all I was quite satisfied. ;)

36-33 - 69 (-2) 3 click Birdied first two holes and thought to myself "play bogie free". Lasted till the next hole. Got to +2 late in the round and birdied 3 in a row. Not my best but happy to finish below par.

69, -2, MS, Min/Min, BLI.

Had trouble with distance control on the first 5 or 6 holes, because i haven't been playing in gusty conditions that often. Overestimated the wind effect a little. A played it safe and attacked the flags only with wedges and short irons. So i wasn't in real trouble very often. Made three birdies after the turn.

I'm playing very solid golf right now, but i have to get closer to the pins to go really low. Cannot see me shooting a 65 like MJ did, because i have not enough real birdie chances. But avoiding bogeys or even worse most of the time is a good fundament to develop my game.

Have moved to MS now and will persevere with it. Min/min BLI 76 +5 (MS) with my new Corsair gaming mouse. Still duffed a couple of shots but more consistent than the old wireless mouse I had been using.

Wind was not too troublesome but I agree that the so called 'easy' pin positions are some of the toughest I've encountered in this game on this course. I birdied the 16th and seventeenth only to 3 putt on the last hole. Frustrating but addictive.

I'll be going out for a final crack today to see if I can break par. This tour has shown just how 'realistic' the scoring can be compared to any Pro tour. Mike's 65 was an indication of how a player can jump out of the pack when their game is 'on'. I liked the stories of guys who have a good round going only to suffer a double. There's no scripted rounds like other games. This is very exciting for leagues and competitions in the future.

One other observation I'd like to make is that the 'rough' part of the game is, for me, ideal. There is a good balance between penalty and the ability to scramble from off the fairway. The trees are a fair obstacle and I like not having to deal with leaves and branches. I made the point in the 'Rubbish' thread that a wayward drive or shot is penalty enough. So many other games had stupid rough and I've walked away from them, never to play again. No doubt there will be some form of restrictions through the leaves and branches in the future but I hope it's not 'stupid' penalties. I'm finding I'm congratulating myself when I pull off a great recovery, unsighted, from the trees and enjoying that a hell of a lot more than hacking around in the scrub for ten minutes. Another point about the rough is that I don't really have to concern myself too much about the lie. If it's way off in the mulga I assume its deep and play accordingly. If it's in the second cut I play accordingly. I seem to be scoring okay in spite of not having a lot of detailed information about my lie in the rough.

Anyway, the wind has died somewhat but it is continuing to dry out the courses across the land which means the fairways are firming up, the greens aren't holding and are becoming slick and fast. Add difficult pins and the next Tour round will be a lot of fun.

That's my last go at that course for a while. Every hole seems to have an invisible little hump around it and the rest are just illegal.lol. Shot +4, no aids, no gimmies, grids, fairway 7, stimp 10. Bring on the next one Ted.
