Just shot my 1st sub 80 round at Mill Green. A 77! Horizontal is where it's at baby! Get horizontal!

Lol @ Crow. Great work
I was pushing balls rightish all day at Southampton for an 81 (which I'm happy about there) and it took me all round to work it out. The solution was simple of course. RTS-H gets better.

Made a mess of things against Art and I was so excited to get on the course and try to at least break 100. It's funny how I can get into a groove on the range but it doesn't yet translate on the course. I'm glad some are able to reference things on the tee but I'm with Ted. I forget to do it half the time and sometimes forget to turn it off because I'm so used to trying to ignore the HUD most of the time even when it is on. I left it on inadvertently for one shot of the tee in my competitive round against Art. My score is no threat though so I think I'll be forgiven and it was the one shot off the tee.
Well back to the range and some practice. Next up is Southhampton. I've practiced it once but I should get my round in today. Some really nice shooting by everyone. I have a long way to go but that is OK, I haven't been at it as long as you guys have. At least I hope that is my excuse.

Skunky my man.
I'm allowing practice rounds before an away match. I'm restricting these practice sessions to 9 holes. Before your round tick either back or front nine and save your fragile integrities from corruption. I have been jolted into action by my encounter with Mill Green GC. I'm reading the history of the Romanovs so be prepared for whimsical but cruel (and self-serving) edicts at any time.
I also decree that stableford competition will prevail.

Ohhhhh, the agony...so close to breaking 100. Dismantled by holes 16 and 17. There were some other high stroke holes but If I could have played those 2 at my regular ability I would have carded a 90 something. Was playing Mill Green (like the selection and course). The tough pins had a little to do with it as I had a few 3 or more putts on some holes. Final edict 104.
Maybe next time. I'm just working my way down the schedule now. I have to defend my home course against Ted's 89. If I can get my $%#! together I just might have a chance. 15 strokes is a lot to shave so your probably pretty safe.
Is there a new rule where we are only supposed to practice away courses once and only 9 holes? I really wish we could at least access the overhead picture of the hole separately as if we had a course guide with us but it's BARE so I get it. Maybe when I have some time I will take some screenshots, edit and have virtual copies I can access with alt-tab or print them for the courses we play if that is acceptable. Still have to finish my back nine caddy book for my home course. One day when I can start hitting more straightish it might make a difference.
Once we play through the first half we can change course conditions for the second half? I'm also noticing some participants have yet to post are they still in? I was thinking if we do get some solid participation we might need our own forums, something simple and free. I'm sure Ted is watching to see if it's worth it. Well nothing for it but to keep plugging away.
Cheers

If you are going to practice at other courses practice each nine (as often as you like) separately to avoid the temptation of turning the round into your challenge round. It's simply a means to nominate practice versus challenge.
The numbers are low but only what I expected. Unfortunately RTS-M and RTS-H aren't popular swing methods. People also don't like seeing 80s on their scorecard. You know what people are like. I could care less that I couldn't care less. I'm not interested in recruitment drives - I'll just provide a casual comp and if anyone is interested they can join up.
I couldn't possibly go back and play with a HUD in spite of the difficulties of BARE. To me, the scores I get in the 80s just increase the motivation. I know I can slowly get those scores down and I can take as long as I want. It must be an even better motivation if you shoot over 100.

But if I was going to spruik for BARE I would say to come along and play at your leisure in a casual but competitive environment. Join up with another name to stay incognito (I'm going to change MiMiC's name. It doesn't scan. Maybe Colin Jacklin unless he has another idea) and treat it as an enjoyable alternative. There will be a regular handicap stableford 9 hole comp soon and further ways to maintain interest in and compliment BARE golf. And RTS-H is wild.
