RTS-C people don't want/use the KB all the time

Man this is exasperating.

Please re-consider just adding a view that's similar to that one from the PS3 Tiger games that I posted.

Well it might be easier for you to start, than for Mike to code it in.  Sorry to exasperate you. ;)

How can it be hard to "code in" one more view that's slightly lower than the current low view?

We are making this into something it's not.

This is not an implementation or code testing challenge whatsoever.

BTW: You aren't exasperating me at all.  Not what I meant - Sorry.  I should have been more clear.

I meant the situation and reasoning being given.

No problem Buck. Hang in there. As far as what it takes to do, you would have to ask Mike. I know it was a while before we got the Low Putting View in the first place

I won't hold up your requests anymore, all I can say is if you feel strongly about it, keep up the good fight. Peace

That is all well and good. Now once you have done the F5 twice to 'live large' as soon as you start to aim, the view resets to your default view.

So anyone wanting to set their aim in the low view has to do it from the normal view, which makes the time taken to get in low view a waste of time.

And heaven forbid you get to close to the ground, bounce back up to waist high and have to start all over. Or what about the times when there's a hill behind you that makes it nearly impossible to get down low?

The current solution is a hassle at best.

You do realise that F5 is the freecam which you can access via the controller?

Wait - one minute people wanted to get lower to read the greens without using the grid or the BLI ( I can understand this) but now they want to aim in the worm cam too? You can read greens by getting low in the freecam quite easily as mentioned earlier in fact I went and tried it and posted the technique that worked for me. I would have thought that those who want to read the greens without assist would welcome the chance to actually virtually crouch down and do just that from whatever angle they choose.

Perhaps having a preset worm cam is just another form of assist - it's really quite a can of 'worms'

I think you missed a few posts earlier where I specifically asked what F5 is, but yes, I'm now aware it's the FreeCam.

Unless it's changed, one must remember that RTS-C and Keyboard can't be used together and thus long time RTS-C folks very quickly forget (or never knew) what the KB keys correspond to.

Happy to!

Can you please make the freecam "stop" instead of "bounce"?

Could we perhaps do that in Config file optionally so literally nobody would ever know about it/see it unless they were crazy No Aids People like me and a few others in here?

Thank you in advance!

Happy to incorporate your no bounce cam code into the game when you get a chance to program it. :)

Meanwhile we will continue pressing on with the features that more people want to see in the game. PG is the most minority and niche minded golf game available but even we have to make tough decisions where best to put the dev time so that people get the best bang for their 'buck'

Some of the comments about 'how hard can it be just to add a new camera?' really are not thought through. Think about it - First you have to program it's position, you then have to incorporate it on the camera cycle (people who don't use that cam will have yet another camera to cycle through before they get to the one they want btw) Then you have to make sure that it works with all the myriad of snap and moving cams during play. Then you have to test all the other cams to see if the code for the new cam hasn't messed up any of the other cam's positions or movements. It's easy to take a simplistic view about what should be added but we have to take a more pragmatic view about people's wants for their own style of gameplay.

You can accept that or not but I'm just being honest - it's not meant as a personal affront that people don't get the specific fix or feature they want.

Sweet

I got your message loud and clear.

There are people that would like the lower cam "lower" or to have one more option for lower.

It's a smallish number of people and you also don't really agree with the concept anyhow and thus it will never happen.

I totally agree about not wanting to steal Dev time.

God knows this game couldn't develop any slower, so I definitely don't want to somehow make it take any longer than it already is.

Anyways - back on the topic of the thread more narrowly.

When *is* the update coming out?

It's not November anymore.

Before xmas?

I am definitely excited to try out the physics updates.

I believe I'm in the vast minority, but I've never played the game with the grid or the BLI.  For me, the low camera is too low to see any break on the green.  I can't imagine how lower would help, but if people feel that way, I have no issue with the request for a lower angle (I wouldn't use it anyway).  It's now clear that it won't happen any time soon, if at all.

And I'm also looking forward to the update.  I don't find the short game "intuitive" at all, and I think that might be why I struggle with it.  Hopefully, the update will make it a bit more intuitive/similar to the real game's short game.  Bunker play seems way off in my mind as well, so I'm hoping the new update will force me to re-learn how to play from them.

Re:  Low Camera View for Putting

The Tiger Games (at least one version, perhaps several of them, I can't recall) on the PS3 had it, with a nice quick animation up/down to the view.

I posted a shot of it back in April here:

http://www.perfectpa...reecam/?p=91158

It's a legitimate view that should be in Perfect Golf - Akin to kneeling down and many real life golfers do get quite low to the ground in the process.

As Mebby pointed out above - This would largely be solved if the FreeCam could not bounce off the terrain, but I did ask Mike about that a while back he said it wasn't possible for some reason (no reason given - must be technical thing)

Can you put at that angle? Wouldn't it be unrealistic to putt like that as in real life you can't do that in tournaments? In TGC you can change camera angle that low but you can't putt at golf ball level.

What is F5 anyhow?  (great view you've dialed up there btw)

One must remember that RTS-C users may not have a keyboard around / prefer to not engage with a KB during play (TV/streaming it, etc)

On a green with more undulations to it, that view you crafted with F5 would be incredibly illuminating.  You really can putt very very well with a lower camera angle and no aids - I lost very few strokes and enjoyed it so much more than using the aids.

I got an idea!

1. Why not allow your character to bend up and down so if they want to lie down to see the ball they can? It makes playing with players realistic as you see them move around and doing things that you see other Pro golfers do! :)

2. How about a Drone and a little box you can change in size so you get perfect camera angle as you putt as a newbie!? You can even request the Drone follows the ball.

3. Why hasn't anyone thought of a trajectory aid when putting for learning? It will tell you exactly where to putt and the trajectory curve of the ball. So as you putt you see the ball following the curve trajectory. This is how the Pros learn to do it correct so over time newbies who becomes pro do not need to use it any more. :)

#1:  Sounds very intensive in terms of coding for the Dev team - Unlikely to come to fruition

#2:  Interesting thought - See #1 though.

#3:  Actually the putt preview line is something that was in the Tiger Woods games and also has a version of itself in TGC: VR from what I've heard/read

I don't actually putt from a low angle, that's just to get a read.

Once I have the look I need, I pop out of FreeCam, aim and putt from the normal view.
