The lighting looks great and it appears much improved graphics... I like it alot.   As for the putting meter... it is a step in the right direction.  That little flag on the meter made it way too easy to putt as you could putt close for even the most difficult putts.

I am open to trying new things when it comes to putting... but no meter at all would be a great challenge.   Heck, no meter for every shot would be pretty cool too.  But of course, these should all be options.

Nice job PP!

Well in the meantime we have a fine alternative. I get nervous when developers become reactionary. They are reacting to what (or whom)? Just consider that. I would like to see a long debate - sensible debate - before I could possibly endorse, in my own humble way, a system that had two (or more) meters for putting. Two meters is two too many in my decreasingly humble opinion. I would rather wear a tutu than have that.

That's why I suggested a slightly longer 'sweep' on the putting meter for the time being. With the latest meter shortish puts might mean those quick (machine gun) clicks that people don't like.

A circular meter with no (flag) (marker) on the edge of the meter is what appears they are shooting for. I would like to see the meter look exactly the same for all shots, no (flags or markers) to indicate where one should stop the swing.  It never existed in the TW series and there were never two different colored meters - one to reduce the power of the putt.

Just a nice circle placeable anywhere on the screen with a size option. Similar to TW08 but without the dots.

ok, here are some more. I took these on Ultra high, all sliders to the right and almost all options enabled. I hope these give you a better idea on how the graphics look like...

Is it just me or do all of these screenshots appear to have a purpleish tone?

I mean everything that you expect to be white or grey looks purple to me and this also transfers to the grass.

The shoes, the hat, the belt, the shaft of the club and even the bunkers looks purple.

Not sure Lasse.

Not sure if other testers can agree or disagree. Since I have a new graphic card it also could be a problem on my end...

Who cares...

The pictures look ok on my iPad. A colours might be a little 'cooler' than the previous version but not really purple.
Possibly a monitor issue?

Thanks for posting those fungolfer!  I'm really happy with the lighting...the sense of sunlight I was missing compared to TGC seems to be covered.

Still wondering about water shorelines and whether it's transparent so you see the ground and rocks below the water surface?

Whoa now! Easy tiger!
We shall see on that part. ;-)

Haha.

I agree with the person who mentioned the sky is a touch too purple (slightly). Might just be the look due to time of day, but still seems a touch too purple in hue.

Teddy,

Until the animation is synced to the swing then for clickers especially the meter is a requirement.

You're getting all flustered as if PP have given us this latest meter and said that's your lot.

Once PP make progress with the animation I'm sure we'll see the swing controls changing yet again.

Who knows, we may get options to play retro style with a plain old meter or go totally animation only with no meter. Everyone can then pick their preferred method.

They are limited to what they can offer at the moment, without full real time animation. Plenty moaned about the old putt meter with the flag so it got changed.

Im sure more changes/options will come in the months ahead.

Currently, and it's subject to change I would assume. 9 oclock is around 30 ft. and straight up 12 around 60 feet. For putts longer than that your going into the danger zone. Very hard to judge,(as it should be).

60 foot is max?  Thats about half what it should be.  40 foot putt uphill 3-4 feet might barely make it at max.  And how many 60+ footers have we had, or putting from fw.  We would need more power than 60 feet.  I love the metered putting but as the Developers have said its about options.  We should be able to adjust max range.

in practice the one swing meter works pretty well for putts. We have reduced the snap penalty for short putts and our swing meter speed is generally on the slow side anyway so it hasnt proven to be a problem when clicking for short putts.

Lighting is much improved.  Still seems a bit 'washed out' overall.  Looking forward to the update.
