Is there any change to shorelines for water?  That's one area TGC is far superior graphically...the shorelines look completely natural with the transparency showing the river/lake floor.

Really awesome point. I think some transparency near the shorelines would Indeed help a ton with the look of realism.

Thanks for the pic's bud. I want to know how far does a 100% putt go? I'm really wondering the distance thing here.

Sorry did not see this..........

60 foot is max?  Thats about half what it should be.  40 foot putt uphill 3-4 feet might barely make it at max.  And how many 60+ footers have we had, or putting from fw.  We would need more power than 60 feet.  I love the metered putting but as the Developers have said its about options.  We should be able to adjust max range.

That's not what I said. This is exactly what I said.

There's a long way beyond 12 oclock.  ;)  It's just that putts beyond 60' will be harder to judge distance. (as it should be)

Putting is about to become a huge part of the game as opposed to an afterthought.

These will do fine for me and there's no doubt in my mind that the textures and lighting will look even better when playing.

in practice the one swing meter works pretty well for putts. We have reduced the snap penalty for short putts and our swing meter speed is generally on the slow side anyway so it hasnt proven to be a problem when clicking for short putts.

Thanks for the explanation on how the new putting meter is working so far Mike. Am looking forward to trying this out for myself, as I'm sure just about everyone is. Hope it won't be too long till this is rolled out.

I know what you said.  60 feet is 12 oclock (100%) if you think of it as the range with the other swing meters.  The overswing would be up to twice that power but believe it would be hard to hit more than 100 feet with the meter.  Still dont think that will be enough.

Again this is just estimating as you guys are the only ones that can touch it right now.  So was really hoping someone would max a putt on the range left or right to see how far it would approx go.  But guess we have to wait, and then realize its too short and no one actually reported it or tested it.

There is no practice range at this time. So no, I for myself can't tell you how far putts really will go. Doesn't make sense to test it on the greens of a course as you always have up or downhill lies...

Just be a bit patient, we will let you know asap :)

Who cares...

If the meter doesn't reach the distance there's always chipping on the greens.... And you can bet you'll be seeing alot of that if putts can't reach 80' to 100'.

Seriously guys, does anyone really think their going to make a putting meter incapable of reaching 100 feet? What it is going to be, is difficult to judge your distance in the 60-100 foot range which it exactly what it should be. ;)

I played a guy and every time he had a hard put he would chip on the green, at that point I wanted to leave the game. I think you should never be able to chip on the green. Try it on a real golf course and see how fast they show you to your car.

Completely agree. It's nothing more than a legal cheat. In real life it would be almost impossible to pull off a shot like that as opposed to it being a simple shot to get close rather than a probable 3 putt. Allowed shot in real life or not,do away with it. ;)

Lighting is much improved.  Still seems a bit 'washed out' overall.  Looking forward to the update.

The washed out appearances come when your looking into direct sun light as lighting now has a huge effect on the way things look. On shots where the sun might be in the opposite direction colors are much more vivid, greens and the blues of the sky included. ;)

The draw distance looks much better. Trees are more detailed far off.

That's because billboard trees are a thing of the past. Trees in the distance depending on your settings will have a lower LOD (level of detail) than trees up close but they still look far better than cardboard cut outs. ;)

Have they finished planting on this course? Looking at the overhead, there are considerably less trees/bushes in the Unity 5 screenshot compared to the Unity 4 one..

Welcome to the wonderful world of using speedtree!! That is a speedtree issue I would think since the other golf game I play does the samething on the overhead.
