CourseForge™ in action

I think people want something for there money up front Daz and not just a promise you'll get something in 1st quarter 2013. I am one of those folks, I'll gladly throw in $50 but I want to know what I am getting first so I'll wait till it's available before I chip in. I am tired of designing for the golf game I am in and this possibly would get me going again.

Appreciate your stance Joe. It's obvious to me we are not going to get a full game, with my take on it being that if the KS was successful, backers would be given the Course Forge and whatever build of the game was currently available. Then from there the idea is that the 'community' then help Mike and the guys continually update the Perfect Golf title in the appropriate direction and continue to receive ongoing builds of the game. We don't get a finished article, we are effectively helping build the game whilst having access to the Course Forge to build courses. I think this is why 2014 was touted as a date fr the game to 'hit the shelves' as the 'community' and PP would have had a good number of months working on it to be able to bring a top notch golfing title to the masses.

I'm really excited about Perfect Golf and the course architect. However, I see the kick starter funding is quite far from your stated fundraising goal. What happens if you don't get close to the $300,000?

I pledged money on Kickstarter but I would pay $30 or $40 to have access to the course designer now so we could all start building courses before the game itself is ready. I think that would generate a lot of buzz and excitement.

I kind of figured you wouldn't get the full game since it's still being worked on but I also kind of figured the course forge might be with it plus whatever they have of the game to date with monthly or bi-monthly updates. Oh I will put my $50 in I just am up in the air about this kickstarter thing and if it doesn't reach the goal what happens. Maybe I didn't read this to well, just don't want to put in the $50 and get nothing till 2014. I believe Mike said you can import a GeoTiff file but I wonder how precise it is to the actual elevation data? Mike have you tried this and have you found it to be very close?

Daz, I don't know what PC golfing communities you're working with, but I can tell you that not many in the PC Gaming community knows about Perfect Parallel. I'm a Perfect Parallel kickstarter funder, I've voted on this on Steam Greenlight (good move), but I really think you need to get some more publicity because not many people know about this. Get a mention on RockPaperShotgun...Eurogamer...QuartertoThree, IGN...and you may see your kickstarter totals climb pretty rapidly. RockPaperShotgun is a great place to start because they tend to love kickstarter games (in fact, they have a weekly article about them). Good luck and I can't wait to see even the beta product of this!

@Blackadar, I don't work for Perfect Parallel, I'm just part of the Links 2003 golfing community. This is what we (the Links/TW/JN etc.) communities have been saying, that by hoping the existing communities alone spread the word about Perfect Golf just won't be enough. The community I refer to in my post above, is the one that would be here at Perfect Parallel, if... and that's an if, the Kickstarter is a success. I think some folks do know about this project, but are not willing to pledge and are just content to wait for a full game being released and then parting with their cash to buy it. @ Joe Habiger Joe, if yo have pledged, your money will be used by the guys here to aid development, if the Kickstarter is a success. If the Kickstarter fails, the money will not leave your bank account. By pledging to Kickstarter all you are doing is saying I am happy to pledge, if the funding level required is achieved. If it succeeds, I would expect we would then be able to begin playing with the Course Forge architect (as you'll need Unity 3D to use this, as the Course Forge I believe is a set of tools created within the Unity 3D environment which you would download and work with) and then hopefully not too long after we would then see an early ALPHA/BETA of the actual game being made available. I think the 2014 date is more the plan to get something released to the public, once the ALPHA/BETA process has been completed, but once again, ll this will be pie in the sky if the Kickstarter does not succeed.

Very very cool, these tools are lightning fast and incredible easy to use. I don't believe any other golf design tools come close in those respects. The meshes are optimized for game engines also and allow us a lot of flexibility for texturing / mapping them.

Jerry, that's where you change the size of the 'brush' and also it's opacity so that you either raise or lower the terrain a little or a lot. It's also where you select your tree type you want to plant from a selection of thumbnails. We'll be bringing all these tools inside the main window at some point, just not had a chance to develop that yet. The video capture program I was using was only capturing the main window BTW

Joe, the terrain resolution I was using here is able to support up to .5 metre data without data loss.

Joe / Mike, I'm not particularly au fait with Lidar data - but have seen sites where data can be sought at both 1 metre / 2 metre coverage. How easy a process will it be to import into the programme? Neil.

Hi all, So I tried to post this in the forum but there seems to be a problem with the confirmation email. Anyways, I was reading through the comments here re: the Kickstarter, and I was wondering if there's any chance of a beta being released to pledgers even if the Kickstarter fails, or having the deadline extended. I don't really know how that all works, but I'm just so eager to get my hands on the Course Forge and start messing around. Thanks!

This just looks absolutely incredible - what golf fans have been waiting years for. I'd usually say I wouldn't be able to contribute (and I can't really afford to!) but the more I see, I just don't know how I couldn't. I'm looking forward to pledging what I can, and spreading the message about Perfect Parallel so that you can blow our minds sooner rather than later!

I've played hundreds of fellow PC Gofers' courses but never felt like building one. What I've just seen may just put me in the designer's seat!

Would love to see an update on this website.. After the Kickstarter campaign failed and an e-mail was sent about a beta / second attempt at Kickstarter I had renewed excitement but again there have been no new updates.
